PUC refers to the Pennsylvania
Public Utilities Commission. Limousines operating within Pennsylvania must
be licensed by the Public Utility Commission, maintain adequate insurance coverage
and adhere to the Commission’s vehicle safety regulations. Once licensed with the
PUC, a limousine company, is provided with a PUC number. Before using the services
of a limousine company a Pennsylvania consumer may verify the validity of the license
by contacting a local
PUC district office.
For more information on how to apply for a license as well as downloading the necessary
forms visit the PUC Motor
Carrier Forms & Applications page. You can also call (717) 787-3834
for an application. Proof of insurance is required to be filed within 60 days of
license approval.
Note: Effective April 10th 2005, the Philadelphia Parking Authority
regulates Taxicabs and Limousines in Philadelphia.
